The Finnish Shetland Pony Association

was founded in 1989. The aim of the association is to further Finnish Shetland pony breeding and to develop and better Finnish Shetland pony population, following the principles of the native country of the breed and the breed standards while taking into consideration the different uses of the breed in riding, driving and harness racing. The aim of the association is to support the activities of its members and to better their abilities as pony breeders.

The Finnish Shetland Pony Association functions nationwide organizing breed shows, courses and other Shetland pony events as well as trips for its members. The association publishes four member publications annually which contain expert articles and a lot of information regarding different Shetty activities. Members are eligible for discounts on show fees and subscriptions for Hevosurheilu newspaper.
